Island Escape Smoothie

The Island Escape Smoothie is made with only five ingredients! Banana, Strawberry, Mango, Coconut water and Raw coconut flakes!IMG_9009

Normally, I buy my fruits fresh and freeze them for my smoothies, freezing the fruits replaces using ice(ice sometimes can water down the natural flavor and sweetness              of the fruit).

I always buy my bananas fresh, then I peel them, break them in half and place them in a Zip-Lock baggy and place them in the freezer. When bananas are frozen they naturally create a creamy texture. This helps give whatever smoothie you are making have a creamier texture.

However, being a busy college student, I found great organic brands that freeze fruits for me! I purchased  Pure Nature’s Organic frozen strawberries and Sunrise Growers organic frozen mango chunks at Costco!

You can garnish this smoothie with a piece of fruit or add coconut flakes on top, or both!

Island Escape Smoothie

Ingredients:

  • 1 frozen banana
  • 1 cup of frozen Mangos1/2 cup of mangos
  • 6 oz. of coconut water/ juice
  • 1/4 cup of unsweetened coconut flakes

Instructions:

  1. Make sure fruit is prepped before placing into the
blender. Cut the banana in halves, and make sure the strawberries and mangos are in chunks. This helps the blender blend easier.
  2. Then add the 6 oz. of coconut water. This adds flavor to the smoothie and also helps the blending process. I used Bai5 Antioxidant Infusion “Molokai Coconut” beverage. (less than 5 calories!)
  3. Then add 1/4 cup of unsweetened coconut flakes. I used “Trader Joe’s Organic unsweetened flake coconut” but any type of unsweetened
    coconut flakes work.
  4. Next blend until the desired thickness. If you find your smoothie to be too thick you may want to add more coconut water.
  5. Enjoy!
